Cleaning Air Ducts - Help or Hinder
Quick Fixes to Save on Heating & Cooling
Annual inspections are a must!
Heating and cooling your home accounts for your largest energy bills - not a big surprise. You need to know that there are ways to reduce waste. Check to see if your furnace and air conditioning filters are dirty. Change your filters at least once a month - two in the peak cooling and heating months. You may want to investigate using an electrostatic permanent filter. This does a much better job of cleaning the air and cuts down on waste.
Make sure your vents are wide open in each room you want heated or cooled. Make sure they are free of obstructions and dust. In turn, close the vents in rooms you do not want temperature-controlled.
Check the outside of the system’s ventilation and combustion for debris or clogs. If any are noticed, contact a professional to set up an inspection or repair. DO NOT run your system until a professional has checked it and given approval.
NOTE: Your entire heating and cooling system should be inspected by a professional every year.
